AC407 Sketching for Beginners

About this event

Instructor: Allison Guan

In this beginner’s drawing class, you will first be introduced to the 9 Steps of Shading Techniques, and this will be followed by how to see a still-life drawing composition as a whole rather than focusing on each object individually. Students will learn how to shade and add lights to the spaces between and around objects. Subjects will include a variety of different forms and textures.

Bio: Alison is the Co-founder & Curriculum Development Director of Green Apple Art Center and has over 20 years of experience in art education and college admissions, with an educational background from Harvard University. She has supported the Art Hope Charity Foundation for over a decade, collaborating with organizations like BC Children’s Hospital and VGH+UBC Hospital Foundation to promote children, education, healthcare, and the arts. Her curriculum encourages interdisciplinary creativity and independent artistic expression, empowering students to share their work and build a global presence.
