About this event

Instructor: Susan Pearson

Discover the magic of watercolour through simple techniques that will deepen your understanding of this mysterious medium. Each week begins with painting exercises and demonstrations, and you will learn how to mix paints to get the colours you want. Bring your ideas and questions, and enjoy a fun and relaxed session.

Bio: Susan has been working as an illustrator and fine art watercolour teacher since 1988. She has illustrated children’s books and magazines, and exhibited her watercolours in Vancouver galleries and restaurants.

For the first class, bring what you already have—buy only what you can afford. Susan’s preferred materials include:

- 2 water containers
- White eraser
- 2B mechanical pencil
- 3/4” chisel flat top watercolour brush
- Palette/mixing tray
- 140 lb. Arches Watercolour paper (block or loose pad)
- At least one size 8 brush with a good point
- Holbein watercolours: Opera, Gamboge Nova, Carmine, Peacock Blue, Olive Green, Payne’s Grey (or equivalent brands/colours)
- Paper towels/tissue
- Handheld blow dryer

Member registration opens on Tuesday, August 25 at 10 am.
Non-member registration opens on Tuesday, September 1 at 10 am.

Cancellation Policy:

Please read the Brock House Society refund policy prior to registering for activities (courses, events, tours) that have a fee.

- There is a $15 processing fee for ALL cancellations.
- To ensure that classes and events can go ahead as planned, members must cancel a class or event no later than 3 days prior to the start/event date to be eligible for refunds. No refunds are given after this deadline.
- To be eligible for a refund of tours, cancellation requests must be received 7 days prior to the tour. No refunds are given after this deadline.
- If Brock House needs to cancel a course/event/tour due to low attendance, a full refund will be provided.
